Do You Need Social Media?

A display of some of the social media platforms

Yesterday, a friend of mine came visiting and was extremely disappointed she had not received more than a hundred likes on Instagram. I found it funny, but she was not even laughing. I realized how deep we have gone into social media. She started using makeup to make her look more beautiful in search of more likes.

I have never been on most social media platforms, but I have seen the damage it has done and continues to do. My friend made me sign up for Instagram since I wanted to know why she was so stressed. One thing I noted is the comparison that exists on social media. There is the upper class and the lower class. The upper level is made of those who receive massive following and likes on their accounts. The lower class, like my friend, are those struggling to enter into the upper level.

The upper class is full of short-lived happiness. Many of them have their best pictures and their best moments in life for you to see. Everyone faces a dark side at times. Everyone gets stressed at times. Social media makes us feel we are still far from achieving or not even doing the same.

We feel we are at mistakes to achieve our goals in life. Do you need a platform that makes you feel less valued? The majority of the people on Facebook lie about where they live, where they went to school, or even what they do. Social media does not reflect our real-life or help us achieve our goals. Instead, it pushes us to darker moments to see ourselves as valueless and not perfect as some people are.

Now ask yourself,

Do you need social media platforms? Do you want to build your goals or drift away?
